Key Features
This is a new part-time course for those teaching in the post-compulsory sector; this might be in Further Education, Higher Education, the health service, adult and community education, the prison service, the armed forces or training providers. The course incorporates the Diploma in Teaching the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) and enables students to gain QTLS (Qualified Teacher, Learning and Skills) status via IfL (Institute for Learning).
Course Content
This is a 30-week, one-day-a-week, part-time course offered in partnership with and accredited by Oxford Brookes University.
This course normally attracts a grant from your Local Education Authority (LEA). You will need to apply for a grant after you have been offered a place on the course and provide proof of your application when you enrol. Failure to do this will make you liable for the fees.
For those with a level 3 professional qualification, on entering the course, and upon successful completion, the award will be a Certificate in Education (Post Compulsory). For those who would like to continue, there is the opportunity to progress to the BA in Educational Practice.
For those with a Degree on entering the course and upon successful completion, the award will be the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.
Assessment
Assessment is by assignment and observation of practice, and at this level, a more academic approach is required. You will use the outcomes of academic research to review and develop your practice, and will consider the national context of post-compulsory education.
