Entry Requirements:

You will progress from A Levels, BTEC National Diploma or equivalent qualifications. Applications from those with relevant work experience are welcomed. As a guideline, a typical offer would ask you to obtain a UCAS tariff score of 120 points, based on your level 3 studies. For those students whose first language is not English, we require one of the following qualifications:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a grade of 6.0+
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 580 or above
  • Cambridge Advanced with a Proficiency Grade C
  • The University's own English Language qualification, Test for English Language Assessment Service (TELAS), as a minimum qualification.

About the Course

The course is designed to run in two and half days-a-week and might involve an evening as part of study. The course is divided into two separate semesters. Most of the modules run for one semester, but there are some modules in the first year which span across the two semesters. You will have a choice in the second year to specialise in Web or Animation.

Year 2:

  • Dynamic Web Programming (Option)
  • Dynamic Flash (Option)
  • E-Marketing and E-Commerce
  • 3D Modelling
  • Project Management & Professional Development.

Assessment

Along with coursework, practical tests and examinations, and group and individual project work, there is a strong employer focus as many of the briefs will be provided by local employers in the field of web development and visual design. The examination for first semester modules will take place towards the end of January and in the beginning of June for second semester modules.

Next Steps

Successful Foundation Degree students may also have the opportunity to complete a further year of study at a college or the University of Bedfordshire to achieve a BSc. in computing or take employment as a web programmer; junior 3D modeller and designer; computer graphics designer or design or graphics technicians.
