The University of Bedfordshire

The University of Bedfordshire (www.beds.ac.uk) was created in 2006 and has nearly 23,000 students spread across five campuses. By 2012 it will have invested 3140m in new facilities. The University won the Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2011 for its outstanding international recruitment and activity.  

The University of Northampton

The University of Northampton (www.northampton.ac.uk) grew out of University College Northampton and achieved full university status in 2005. It has two campuses in Northampton and has some 11,000 students.

The Open University

The Open University began in 1969 as a groundbreaking experiment to open access to university education to a wide audience. It has proved remarkably successful and now attracts some 180,000 students worldwide. Although it has a national and international reach, its headquarters are based in Milton Keynes, a few minutes drive from UCMK.

UCMK Degree students enjoy full membership both of UCMK and of whichever partner university awards their Degree.

Welcome to the University Centre Milton Keynes, or UCMK as we are affectionately known by our students. We are delighted that you are exploring the exciting Higher Education (HE) opportunities on offer at UCMK.

Higher Education refers to those courses offered at Degree level or equivalent (level 4 or higher on the national qualifications framework). Such courses offer a wonderful opportunity to be challenged intellectually and personally, to develop new ways of understanding the world, and to acquire valuable new skills which can be directly applied to the workplace.

UCMK is an exciting new venture for Milton Keynes. Based in a stunning, purpose-designed building with state-of-the-art facilities in the heart of the city centre, it is just five minutes walk from the rail andbus stations, and close to all the amenities that this vibrant new city has to offer.

At UCMK, we enjoy close and effective partnerships with the four universities that validate our courses. Our graduates will be awarded Degrees from one of our partner universities. In addition, we offer many highly-regarded courses validated by major professional bodies.

We opened our doors to students for the first time in September 2008. Although we may be new to the HE arena, we are committed, with our partners, to delivering excellence to our students - excellence in terms of academic standards; excellence in terms of the quality of our teaching; excellence in terms of the support we offer to our students. In short, excellence in a new setting.
