What is HE?
Higher Education (HE) is defined to be those courses offered at Degree level or equivalent. Within the national qualifications framework, these HE courses are defined to be at level 4 or above.
HE courses represent a dramatic change in the academic demands placed upon a student and require a significant degree of independent study and thought. Although this process is stretching and demanding, the rewards for the student are huge. At UCMK, we pride ourselves on working closely with each student to ensure that they are well-supported throughout their studies and feel able to cope with the intellectual demands placed on them.
One of the features of HE is that the university is not only engaged in the delivery of HE courses, but is also actively engaged in research and development, and knowledge transfer activities. UCMK is no exception. Individual teachers are engaged as academics or practitioners in the on-going development of their subject. As an institution, UCMK is collaborating with research-intensive universities such as the Open University and Cranfield University, and is involved in the emerging Milton Keynes Science and Innovation initiative.
Indeed, UCMK boasts two ‘Enterprise Offices' on its premises which are dedicated to knowledge transfer and entrepreneurial activity, and we have an ‘Entrepreneur in Residence' associated with the Milton Keynes Enterprise Hub.
It is not surprising that studying at HE level is such a thrilling and rewarding activity, which is why UCMK is committed to ensuring that this experience is of the highest quality and that it is as accessible to as many students as possible.
