Course Description:
The Chartered Institute of Marketing is the professional body for those employed in a marketing capacity. The CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing is aimed at those who are interested in finding out more about marketing, whether they are in a job that involves marketing or not. It provides information about what marketing is and aims to develop knowledge and skills for people who are working to support others in basic marketing tasks, or for non-marketers (possibly middle management) wanting to develop a broader knowledge or understanding of marketing or to move into marketing.
Entry Requirements:
This qualification consists of two modules, one of which is assessed by an online test, the other by a work-based project.
No formal qualifications or marketing experience are required to join the course, but you will need good command of the English language to Level 2. All students are invited to an interview prior to joining the course. Students without formal qualifications in English will be asked to undertake an assessment.
Course Content:
- Unit 1: What is marketing?
- Unit 2: Understanding customer relationships.
The teaching and learning is facilitated by experienced lecturers with business backgrounds. Students will be given handouts for each topic during class sessions, which they add to with their own notes. You will be expected to take part in group activities and present back to the group. Use is made of topical case studies, press articles, site visits and experiences from students and staff.
Assessment:
Assessments take place during the course. This includes one multiple choice, online test and one assignment based on your organisation via a project which is written in response to questions set by CIM.
Additional Info:
You will need to join CIM as a student member and we recommend that you purchase two CIM books at an approximate cost of £50. These costs are not included in the course fees.
Next Steps:
On successful completion of this course you may wish to progress to the CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing.
