Course Description:
If you are currently working at the level of personnel assistant, personnel administrator or personnel officer, or you are new to or aspiring to a career in the personnel function, then this course may be for you. The CIPD Certificate in HR Practice provides a firm foundation in all areas of HR, helping you to develop essential HR skills and giving you the confidence to be more effective at work by adding real value to your HR function. The CIPD Certificate in HR Practice replaces the highly regarded CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice (CPP) and is ideal for HR professionals wishing to acquire a wide range of relevant, practical skills and a professional qualification to further their career within HR.

Entry Requirements:
No formal qualifications required, but you will need a good command of English to Level 2. If you have no formal qualifications we will assess this at interview.

Course Content:

The course consists of 6 units:

  • Developing yourself as an HR practitioner Resourcing talent
  • Understanding organisations and the role of HR Performance and reward
  • Managing the employment relationship Using HR information.

On this course you will learn to:

  • Develop the skills needed in personnel work
  • Gain an introduction to the work of the personnel department
  • Assess the personnel function's contribution to achieving organisational goals
  • Assess the personnel function's contribution to achieving organisational goals
  • Prepare and conduct face-to-face interviews
  • Use assessment and evaluation techniques
  • Recognise the practical relevance of your organisation's policies and procedures
  • Give basic feedback
  • Provide an awareness of the context of personnel functions and key issues that impact on personnel issues.
  • Be confident in all areas vital to effective and efficient recruitment and selection
  • Plan and carry out a short training session
  • Apply the fundamentals of employment law
  • Apply the fundamentals of employment law
  • Improve the performance of the team and encourage development using effective performance review processes.

Assessment:
There are 4 assignments to complete during the course. These include an assessed project, self-study materials and maintaining a personal development portfolio.

Additional Info:
You will need to become a member of the CIPD at a cost of approximately £160. This cost is not included in the course fees.

We are happy to design and deliver a bespoke programme for companies who wish to support a group of their staff in achieving this qualification (fees to be negotiated).

Next Steps: 
Students may continue on to the CIPD Graduate Scheme and Post-Graduate Scheme.
