Course Description:
The ILM Level 4 Award in Management aims to give managers the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by exploring the middle manager role to develop the skills needed in such a role and also to prepare candidates for the more rigorous demands of study at the higher levels. The skills and knowledge learnt on this course cut across all sectors of business and the public sector.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements, but participants will normally be either practising or aspiring managers with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands, or have at least three years' relevant work experience. You will need a good command of English, both written and verbal, to Level 2.

Course Content:

Two mandatory units as follows:

• Understanding the Management Role - Examines organisational structures and functions, roles and responsibilities of middle managers, the effect of communication and interpersonal skills on managerial performance.

• Developing the Management Role - Developing skills in information gathering and analysis, reviewing research, together with group discussion and evaluation skills.

Assessment:
Assessment is by the completion of one work-based assignment, which is completed towards the
end of the course. This enables students to study while working full time.

Successful candidates may benefit from career enhancement and/or progress towards further qualifications, according to their circumstances. This could include:

• L4 S/NVQ in Management
• L5 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Management
• Foundation Degree in Business Leadership and Management.
